I was scheduled for a general cleaning but after arriving, checking in and having a bunch of xrays done, the doctor came into the exam room and informed me that I was overdue for a deeper cleaning and scaling since it had been 2 years since my last one was done. They were going to convert the appointment to do that instead, but could only do 1/2 of my teeth since my insurance required it to be done over 2 separate days. I tried to explain that I did not plan for a visit that was longer than an hour and had other plans already that evening and could not do it that day. She didn’t accept that response and instead said that she was sending someone in to go over cost with me. I was presented with a plan to do 1/2 my mouth that day and then return the next day for the other1/2 to be done- at a cost to me of almost $1000. Again I explained that I did not have time on my schedule for that type of appointment today and I had told the dentist that. So we agreed to reschedule for another time. At checkout, I was presented a document to sign saying that the had done my general cleaning and checked depths of my gums, etc - to which I had to explain that nothing was done. I didn’t get my cleaning or any other work done other than the X-rays. She corrected that and then schedule me in February for the first 1/2 of my deep cleaning and scaling, but then did not have another appointment available for the other half to be done. I’m on a waiting list for it now. What I don’t understand is why it wasn’t apparent that this should have been scheduled as my next appointment when I had my cleaning done just 6 months or less before this and why no one had the foresight or ability to reach out to me days ahead of time to discuss the change in treatment plan for that visit. It’s unbelievable to me that a professional cannot understand or be empathetic to a patient who says that a change in treatment requiring a longer appointment time is not possible and continues to insist that it is going to be done that day. As a physician myself, I could never imagine doing that to a patient and expect that they would still think to give me any kind of good patient review. I have had may good experiences with appointments here for the last 2 years - this one was unacceptable Update to review: Dr Le actually reached out to me about this encounter. We had a great conversation about this experience and she was very empathetic and understanding about my issues. She has resolved my concerns. I have had many great appointments at PS Modern Dentistry and although this recent appointment was not as expected, I will remain a faithful patient to them and content to receive dental care there.

What is the Mouth-Body Connection® ?

The Mouth-Body Connection® refers to the link between oral health and overall health, and the role that the harmful bacteria and inflammation in our mouths play in chronic, systemic disease. That’s why it’s time we talked about more than your teeth. Our office prioritizes your overall health as it relates to your oral health. When we care for your smile we’re also looking out for your entire self.
